About optimALga
The aim of the joint work of DataFriends and the scientific research institution CzechGlobe is the optimALga digital platform dedicated data collection and evaluation in direct connection to the devices for collecting data from scientific cultivators.
The software solution, and consequently also a special programmable logical controller, will make it possible to streamline data collection in the field of microalgae cultivation and optimize their implementation for both industrial and scientific research purposes.
The main reasons for the implementation of the submitted project include:
- Limited data sources / repositories
- insufficient data materials make advanced research on this issue impossible
- Lack of annotations
- Insufficient coverage of species (mostly model organisms unsuitable for real industrial use)
Lack of unified communication protocols (only proprietary) of available cultivation equipment – the solution is the development of an open control unit (DeviceControl), supporting a wide range of devices used in science and industry.
The project will bring a solution to the current inefficient situation, where on the one hand there are scientific research institutions specializing in microalgae biotechnology, with a huge amount of data, and on the other hand the potential of their commercial use and further research.
Thanks to the project, a tool is created that connects these two areas and bring higher usability and production of microalgae, which has a substantial positive impact on the environment due to their properties and mitigation capacity.
